Louisa Crossing
Steve Harris comes from a long line of musicians, going back over a century. After a career as an international tax attorney, Steve turned his attention to his first love - music.
As the owner of a music publishing company and leader of his own band, Steve has written over 50 arrangements and composed new lyrics for dozens of songs in a variety of genres. LOUISA CROSSING is his inaugural solo album of original compositions. While the base of the music is "classic country," the album brings in other Americana styles to create a new, fresh sound.
Original Cover Art is by Roberto Parada, an internationally-known illustrator whose work has appeared in Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, ESPN The Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Esquire, Playboy, Mother Jones, AARP Magazine and other renowned publications.

About This Album
Louisa Crossing is the inaugural effort of Virginia singer-songwriter Steve Harris. To be sure, the tunes have at their core that familiar country vibe with plenty of guitar, steel, keyboard, fiddle and drums. But listen for the unique sounds - of horns, of chimes and even a bass harmonica. And while the stylistic foundation for much of the music is classic country, this album will take you into another musical dimension. There are elements of jazz, folk, gospel, pop. No matter the variations in style, the music is Americana at its best.
Then there are the lyrics. All original, many tell classic country tales – of love won and lost, of love of country. Beyond traditional country themes, several of the songs draw on Steve’s experiences (in another business life) working in the Japanese culture.
The initial tracks for this album were laid down in May 2018 over a marathon four-day session at White Star Sound in Louisa County, Virginia. The beautiful, rolling countryside provided incremental inspiration, to be sure. But the title of the album is about more than geography. It’s about crossing into another chapter of life – from a life in the business world to life in the musical world. This album reflects both dimensions.
So, come meet at Louisa Crossing and enjoy the music!
